Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Garden

The purpose of this garden is to have a dedicated place of remembrance for loved ones who have passed away. This garden is intended to honour our late Queen by providing a quiet environment where family and friends can reflect on memories and celebrate lives lived.

A Memorial Garden was chosen as a space for healing during a period of grief and beyond, providing a tranquil, physical place to reflect on memories and feelings. The beauty of nature can have a calming effect, assisting in the healing process.

The design is based on a 50p piece shape, with 7 trees, each tree
representing a decade of the Queen’s reign, with a centrepiece that has Queen Elizabeth II roses and underplanting of perennials in red, white and blue. Incorporating benches into the design makes the space feel welcoming and enables people to sit quietly, meditate, or converse with others as they share memories.

The garden can be a gathering place for families and friends to come together, share their memories, and support each other in their grief. It can also serve as a reminder to the community of the lives that once enriched the environment.

Members of the public are invited to sponsor a tree or bench as a lasting commemoration. Trees, benches, wildflower banks, grassed areas will be regularly checked and maintained to ensure safety and longevity.
